This education and exercise program reflects the latest evidence in osteoarthritis (OA) research. It also includes feedback from people with OA and trainers on what works in the real world to help patients manage OA symptoms.
It consists of:
Your physio appointments with a certified GLA:D instructor, will further educate you about the program, understand your current main problems and take measurements on your level of function.
The two seminar sessions will teach you about OA, how the GLA:D™ Australia exercises improve joint stability, and how to retain this improved joint stability outside of the program.
While the exercise sessions will target improved muscle control of the joint which leads to a reduction in symptoms and improved quality of life.
GLA:D™ Australia is a program for all individuals who experience any hip and/or knee OA symptoms, regardless of severity or stage.
You may participate in the GLA:D™ Australia program if you have a hip or knee joint problem that resulted in visiting a health care provider.
Currently on site 1:1 sessions (assessments and private exercise) are held at SportsFit Physio & Health in Glen Iris, convenient for residents of Malvern East, Ashburton, Carnegie, Caulfield, Camberwell and Malvern.
We are also running group exercise sessions online via telehealth, which can be done in the convenience of your own home and all seminars are now delivered online.
The total cost of the program is $680.
The program is claimable under private health insurance.

No, however we do accept referrals and people referred by their GP under Medicare’s Chronic Disease Management (formerly Enhanced Primary Care or EPC) can claim the Medicare rebate for the 1:1 sessions as part of the program.
